Job Details Description Summary: The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. o Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives o Produce timely and accurate financial statements and reports o Prepare annual budgets o Analyze variances from budget and/or forecast and communicate significant issues timely o Update forecasts to accurately project revenues, expenses and cash o Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred o Establish and routinely analyze costs of inventory o Routinely review and communicate job and product costing o Calculate and regularly communicate financial and operating metrics o Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations o Prepare journal entries o Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts o Maintain monthly audit binder o Maintain fixed assets o Oversee payables to ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner o Oversee receivables to ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly o Maintain the chart of accounts o Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures o Maintain an orderly electronic accounting filing system o Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions o Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit o Assist with HR-related tasks, such as benefits administration and handling routine employee inquiries o Lead and direct the work of others o Perform other related duties as assigned Competencies o Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction. o Planning/Organizing -Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently. o Excellent attention to detail o Able to work with a diverse group of people Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Reasoning Ability o Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
